It’s About Time You Embraced This 90’s Trend

We had it coming. Every 90’s accessory trend we love to hate – claw hair clips, fanny packs, platform sneakers, crunchies – has made a comeback so why not this? Shell necklaces were spotted already on Prada’s Fall-Winter 2017 collection but I think our childhood-slash-early teen memories have been too fresh to actually take the trend out and about. Until now. Fashion influencers from María Bernard to Laura McWhinnie have embraced shell jewelry this summer and the trend only seems to affirm it’s position come fall. I mean, who wouldn’t want to take a piece of summer with them?

While some years ago I was a pretty keen jewel maker myself, I’d rather save the shells to the pros. Not that excited to look all 90’s craftsy again…

Simpukkakorut astelivat näytöslävoille jo Pradan FW2017 -kokoelmassa, mutta katukuvaan ne pelmahtivat kunnolla vasta tämän kesän aikana. Luulenpa, että lapsuuden ja teinivuosien muistot simpukkakoruista ovat olleet liian tuoreessa muistissa… Muotivaikuttajat María Bernardista Laura McWhinnieen ovat postailleet simpukkakuviaan kilpaa sosiaaliseen mediaan, eikä trendi osoita hiipumisen merkkejä. Kukapa ei haluaisi ottaa palasta kesää mukanaan syksyn pimeneviin iltoihin?

Vaikka joitakin vuosia sitten askartelin innokkaasti itse koruja, jätän simpukat suosiolla ammattilaisille. Onneksi kaupoista löytyy varsin tyylikkäitä vaihtoehtoja joka budjetille.
